Swine & Sea — Hot Honey — French Creole Recipe

Hot Honey

Hot Honey is absolutely a treat that is something, until you taste it, is hard to understand. It is often talked about the power of sweet and savory. Add a bit of heat for something special.

Recipe

  • 1

    cheesecloth
  • 2 tsp.

    crushed red pepper
  • 1 cup

    honey
  • 1 tsp.

    Kosher salt
  • 1 Tbsp.

    apple cider vinegar
    Step 1
  • Placed the crushed red pepper in the middle of the cheesecloth. Gather the cheesecloth to make a pouch and tie the top in a not or use a piece of twine.

  • Step 2
  • In a small saucepan, combine the honey, crushed red pepper pouch and Kosher salt and heat to simmer.

  • Step 3
  • Allow the mixture to simmer for 5 minutes and remove the pan from heat, stirring occasionally to make sure the honey doesn't burn.

  • Step 4
  • Whisk in the apple cider vinegar.

  • Step 5
  • Pour the mixture into an air-tight container.
